Frequently Asked Questions.
Families often have questions when navigating assisted living, memory care, or AFC options in Michigan. This page brings together the answers we share most often, so you can feel informed and supported as you make decisions for your loved one. And if you need personal guidance, we’re always here to help — completely free for families.

1. What does a senior placement advisor do?
A senior placement advisor helps families find safe, appropriate assisted living, memory care, or AFC home options. We evaluate care needs, preferences, budget, and location to recommend the best-fit communities — and we guide you through every step of the placement process.
2. Is your senior placement service really free for families?
Yes. Our services are completely free to families. We are compensated by the assisted living communities and AFC homes when a placement is made — never by you.
3. How fast can you help place a loved one?
We can assist immediately. For urgent situations, we can provide same-day recommendations and coordinate fast placement options across Detroit, Downriver, and the surrounding Michigan areas.
4. What areas do you serve?
We serve all of Metro Detroit, Wayne County, Oakland County, and nearby communities — including Dearborn, Livonia, Southfield, Farmington Hills, Novi, Troy, Canton, Trenton, and Wyandotte.
5. Do you help with AFC homes as well as assisted living?
Yes. We work with trusted assisted living communities, memory care facilities, and licensed Adult Foster Care homes throughout Michigan.
6. How do you know which communities are safe and reputable?
We vet every community we recommend. We review staffing, care levels, licensing, safety records, resident experience, and overall quality to ensure your loved one is placed somewhere safe and supportive.
7. How do you handle costs and budgeting?
We help you understand the real cost of assisted living and AFC homes, including private pay, long-term care insurance, VA Aid and Attendance, and Medicaid conversion options when applicable.
8. Can you help if the family is overwhelmed or unsure what they need?
Absolutely. Many families start without knowing the difference between assisted living, memory care, or AFC homes. We walk you through it, ask the right questions, and help you make confident decisions.
9. Do you meet families in person?
Yes. We offer phone consultations, virtual meetings, and in-person support depending on your needs and location.
10. What makes Still Waters Senior Advisors different?
We provide compassionate, local, personalized guidance rooted in real experience. We take the time to understand your loved one’s needs and walk with you throughout the entire journey — not just hand you a list of facilities.
